DEAR ELENORE: I am a strict vegetarian, 80% raw, 90% vegan, and 90% organic. I eschew any food that contains genetically modified organisms (GMOs), artificial flavors, colors, aromas, artificial sweeteners, and preservatives. I eat a 90% gluten-free diet and 90% sugar-free. What I mean here is that I am virtually 100% sugar-free for “added sugars.” Fruits come with their own built in sugar; I eat fruits. I never take granular sugar, however, I sometimes enjoy barley malt or rice syrup or maple syrup in season. But those are rare.
