DEAR SPROUTMAN: I’m confused. Which is the best wheat grass? Indoor or outdoor grown, young or old plants? – Justin
DEAR JUSTIN: Unfortunately, there is no black and white answer. There are so many differences between the grasses and each one has advantages. The true answer has to be evaluated based on what you are trying to accomplish in you health. To answer your question (as best I can): Old wheatgrass plants are not really old because outdoor plants have not yet acheived the jointing stage they are still babies. Often they will have a 12″ root system that has an impact on the vitamin levels. Outdoor grown with solar energy will be more nutritionally dense. A full discussion on wheatgrass, indoors vs. outdoors, juice vs. powder, fresh vs. frozen etc. can be found in my book, Wheatgrass Nature’s Finest Medicine.
