DEAR SPROUTMAN: I have the Freshlife Automatic Sprouter and was just wondering if I am supposed to use the top tray at all when growing wheatgrass. I tried to remove it on the 5th or 6th day but it lifted all the grass with it. I did use the wheatgrass pads on the bottom tray. Any tips you have for growing wheatgrass in the Sprouter are very much appreciated! – Carol
DEAR CAROL: Yes, leave the top tray in for the first 3 days. My best recommendation to get the best wheatgrass results is to work with the list that I wrote in Wheatgrass Nature’s Finest Medicine. There are many items on that list, but the number one item is that you buy seed that is approved for wheatgrass growing.

I think her problem was that she put the pad on the bottom tray instead of the top. A good “how to” video should clear up any confusion in growing.

I was wondering since this seems like a pretty closed system… is there a mold problem? Or is there enough ventilation to keep it under wraps? Thanks

We get very few complaints about mold. Often times the mold is a result of bad seed and Sproutman tests all of his seeds personally to ensure his customers get the highest quality sprouting seeds.
